Morocco’s exports of agricultural and sea products surpassed, for the first time, 80 billion dirhams in 2022, a 20% rise compared to 2021, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The agriculture industry ranked third among Moroccan export sectors, with a strong performance in 2022 despite an unfavorable international context and climate change, said the ministry.
Fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached 2.3 million tons in 2022, marking a 10% yearly increase. This upward trend impacted all product categories, particularly red fruits and citrus.
Exports of fishery products climbed by 16% reaching 28 billion dirhams, with canned fish increasing by 7% in volume and 30% in value.
Compared to 2021, exports of processed agricultural products rose by 19%, led by olive oil which increased by 85% in volume and 49% in value.
