Overall annual sales of new cars in Morocco dropped by 8% in 2022 compared to 2021 (161,410 cars in 2022 versus 175,360 in 2021), said director of the Association of Vehicle Importers (AIVAM) Adil Bennani.
In a press conference on Friday, Bennani said that the sales of passenger cars (PCs) fell by 7%. A significant decline of 14% in the light commercial vehicles (LCV) was posted with 18,224 registrations in 2022.
The decline in LCVs is the result of lack of visibility and uncertain economic context.
The sales of vehicles with alternative engines (electric vehicles, hybrid cars, plug-in hybrid vehicles..) recorded a growth of 17% in 2022 compared to 2021.
