The “Arab Center for Research & Policy Study” said, in its “Arab Index 2022” study, that 31% of Moroccans use social media platforms to get political news.
34% of Moroccans browse social networks several times a week for the same reason, while 17% check them less than once a week, and 16% never use them.
The study was conducted in 14 Arab countries, including Morocco, in order to identify the trends of Arab public opinion towards a range of political, economic and social topics.
The same source confirmed that 44.1% of Moroccans trust news on social media, 51.3% prefer to get information from TV, while 49.1% would rather trust news shared on journalists’ official accounts.
This trust declined from 54.4% in 2019/20 to 44.1 in 2022.
The study relied on field surveys covering 33,300 respondents picked through cluster sampling.
