The Royal Navy’s coastguard, patrolling the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, rescued 270 illegal migrants during the period from Dec.24, 2022 to Jan.4, 2023, said a military source.
The migrants were from different nationalities, including sub-Saharans, Yemenis, and Syrians.
The would-be migrants attempted to cross the sea in makeshift boats, kayaks, jet skis, and by swimming.
The rescued persons received first aid before bringing them back safe and sound to the nearest port.
