Morocco’s Railway Project linking Nador to Tangier and Oujda to Casablanca, conducted by the National Railway Office (ONCF), is worth 400 billion dirhams, said Minister of Transportation and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil.
In a plenary session at the parliament, the minister explained that the implementation of this project requires innovative funding solutions from both public and private partnerships.
The new railway consists of 3,800 km of medium-speed rail tracks and over 1,300 km of high-speed ones.
Abdeljalil added the project aims to link 43 cities instead of the 23 current ones. This expansion will allow 87% of Moroccans to have access to rail transportation.
10 connection stations will be created to improve integration with other modes of transportation.
