John Cockerill will construct a gigafactory in Morocco for manufacturing electrolyzers, as part of the “SolHeatAir project”, according to a recent press release by the company.
The project is aimed at producing green hydrogen and using hot air from renewable energy sources to enable the country reduce its carbon footprint.
The project will help Morocco meet its Green Hydrogen goals, which are 3 GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030 and 14 GW by 2040.
The deal, which was officialized in November, follows the signature of the EU-Morocco Green Partnership.
The company has been present in Morocco since 2013. The group proposes technological solutions for the production, storage, and valorization of heat produced by renewables.
