Leicester City has made an offer of around £20 million to sign Moroccan World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi from French Angers SCO.
For several weeks, the club has been connected with the midfielder who helped Morocco reach the semi-finals in Qatar two weeks ago.
If Leicester can recruit the 22-year-old during the Mercato, it will cast doubt on the future of Belgian Youri Tielemans, who was previously believed to be on Newcastle United’s radar vision.
Arsenal star Ray Parlour pleaded with his former club to sign the Moroccan, but it appears as if Ounahi will play for Leicester City rather than Arsenal.
Ounahi joined Angers SCO in 2021 after playing for another French club. He also trained with Strasbourg B.
He made his senior start for Morocco during the African Cup of Nations early 2022. He made 17 appearances for his country throughout the year, scoring twice against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
