King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences and compassion to the family of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as “Pele”, who died Thursday at the age of 82.
In his message, the Sovereign said he was pained by the passing of the Brazilian and international soccer legend, saying that Brazil and the world have lost one of the best and most talented soccer players ever.
“Pele was loved and admired worldwide and helped make soccer a symbol of peace, coexistence and understanding between different peoples and cultures”, said the monarch.
The King extended to the deceased’s family, relatives, friends and fans his hearty condolences and sincere sympathy.
