Algeria’s Criminal Court sentenced in absentia, on Tuesday, Mohamed Larbi Zitout, a former diplomat and dissident of the Algerian military regime, to twenty years in prison and issued a new international arrest warrant for him.
Mohamed Larbi Zitout was charged by the judiciary with undermining the security of the country and financing terrorist organizations.
Zitout, who is residing in Britain, is considered one of the fierce opponents of the Algerian system. The military regime accuses him of involvement in operations targeting the country’s security through the “Rachad” movement, labeled by Algeria, along with MAK movement, as terrorist groups.
