The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) set a condition for its participation in the African Nations Championship for U23 (CHAN), scheduled in Algeria from January 13 to February 4, which is a direct flight from Rabat to Constantine.
FRMF president Fouzi Lekjaa called, in a statement, on the CAF to facilitate the mobility of the Moroccan squad travelling to Constantine via a special direct flight by the Moroccan carrier “RAM”, as per the rules and regulations governing African competitions.
The FRMF board unanimously decided that the Moroccan team will not participate in this 7th edition if the condition is not fulfilled.
Algeria closed its airspace to all Moroccan civil and military aircraft after severing diplomatic ties with the Kingdom on September 22, 2021. It also banned the entry of Moroccan journalists to cover the Mediterranean Games and the Arab Summit held on its territory.
