Morocco has jumped from the 22nd spot to become the 11th best football team in the world, according to the FIFA rankings.
The national team increased its total points from 1,564 to 1,672, a gain of around 108 points. They were able to surpass major soccer teams such as Germany, Uruguay, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden, and Poland.
The Atlas Lions became the best African team, ahead of Senegal, and topped all Arab squads.
Morocco has advanced to the World Cup semi-finals after defeating Belgium 2-0, Canada 2-1, Spain 3-0 on penalties, and Portugal 1-0. A significant accomplishment that propelled Morocco into the top four in the World Cup.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino told the press that Morocco “played great football, and we must praise Morocco’s performance.”
