French President, Emmanuel Macron, appointed Christophe Lecourtier, former CEO of Business France Company, as the new ambassador of France to Morocco.
The new ambassador tweeted news of his new appointment.
Après 5 ans comme DG de @businessfrance mon mandat se termine. Former French ambassador Helene Le Gal’s tenure ended in September 2022 amid strained relations between the two countries due to the 50% slashing of visas granted to Moroccans and France’s ambiguous position over the Sahara issue.
The decision coincided with the visit of French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna to Morocco.
Christophe Lecourtier served as an ambassador to Brazil and Australia.
