Speaker of Lower House Rachid Talbi El Alami represented, Thursday in Malabo, King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of Equatorial Guinea’s president-elect Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
Talbi El Alami along with Morocco’s Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Ghallam Michane, were received by Mbasogo.
It’s worth mentioning that Equatorial Guinea’s President was in power since 1979, holding the record for the longest-serving head of State who is not a monarch. He was re-elected for the 6th term, extending his 43 years in office by another seven years.
Members of the international community, including the US government, have raised concerns over the legitimacy of the 94.9% of votes that earned Mbasogo a new term in office.
