The inaugural meeting of the Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region, hosted in Marrakesh on Dec. 7-8 to discuss the most pressing economic and environmental issues, ended on Thursday.
The Forum provided a chance for lawmakers from over thirty nations, public and private sector stakeholders, academics, experts, businessmen, and members of civil society to get together in a critical juncture, economically and environmentally speaking.
The Forum addressed difficulties facing the Mediterranean and Gulf regions, as well as ways to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
Participants in the two-day meeting expressed deep concern over the region’s dire medium- and long-term economic outlook, the resurgence of inflation, and the looming global financial recession.
They called for empowering women and youth, prioritizing sustainable tourism, ensuring efficient economic integration, revitalizing private investment and focusing more on digitalization and technology.
They also called for supporting the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project.
