A legal challenge against Britain’s post-Brexit trading agreements with Morocco concerning commodities from the Sahara region was dismissed on Monday.
The WSCUK group filed a complaint against the British finance ministry in response to the October 2019 “association agreement,” which was intended to duplicate Morocco’s arrangement with the European Union.
The body argued at the High Court that legislation extending favorable import tariff rates to items originating in the Sahara region was illegal.
The WSCUK’s petition that items originating in Sahara could only benefit from favorable tariffs if produced with the permission of the Sahrawi population was rejected by Judge Sara Cockerill.
