King Mohammed VI chaired on, Saturday at Rabat royal palace, a ceremony to present the OCP 2023-2027 Eco-investing Program and sign a MoU between the government and the group.
The investment program is totaling 130 billion dirhams, and is expected to achieve an integration rate of 70%. It will shore up 600 industrial businesses and create 25,000 jobs.
A statement by the Royal Office said the ceremony is a continuity of the working meeting, chaired by the Monarch on Nov. 22, meant to ensure a smooth transition toward green, carbon-free energy.
Head of OCP Mostafa Terrab gave a presentation on the group’s old investment program which helped triple fertilizer production, and placed the kingdom at the forefront of leading phosphate producers and exporters.
The new program is relying on emerging technologies to reach carbon neutrality before 2040. It is also banking on solar and wind energy to be fully operating with green energy by 2027.
The investment seeks to limit the group’s ammonia importation dependency.
