The Republic of Guatemala opened, on Thursday, a Consulate General in Dakhla, in recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
Guatemala is the first Latin country to open a consulate in Dakhla.
The inauguration was chaired by Guatemalan Foreign Minister Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores, and wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, governor of Oued Eddahab province Lamine Benomar.
The event was attended by several elected officials and consuls accredited to Dakhla.
This inauguration brings to 28 the number of Consulates in the southern provinces.
