The government increased the appropriation for the 2020-2027 National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI), from 115 to 150 billion dirhams.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Department of the Head of Government following the third meeting of the PNAEPI Steering Committee, according to MAP.
The meeting was devoted to reviewing a series of draft resolutions and recommendations related to inter-basin water transfer, seawater desalination projects, dam construction projects, awareness-raising initiatives, and governance mechanisms to ensure water and food security.
Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, who chaired the meeting, affirmed the government’s intention to accelerate the implementation of the 2020-2027 PNAEPI. He said that the Government will present to King Mohammed VI all projects that will be carried out to alleviate the impact of water stress on citizens and on agricultural activities.
