On his first official visit to Tehran, new Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani seemed to be willing to respect the conditions imposed by Ayatollah’s regime.
The visit of Al-Sudani, Tuesday along with other officials, aims to iron out differences between the parties and coordinate positions. He met with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iraq’s new prime minister pledged that Iran will not be attacked from his territory. Both sides made it clear that their ties are based on “mutual respect and non-interference”.
Al-Sudani’s father and other family members were executed during Saddam’s dictatorship for being members of the Shi’ite Dawa Islamic Party.
