Former Foreign Minister Mohamed Benaissa received, on Sunday, the Boutros-Ghali Prize for Conflict Resolution Diplomacy, Democracy and Human Rights by the Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge (KBG).
The prize was handed to Benaissa during the Foundation’s annual gala. The body said in a statement that the prize rewards the former Moroccan official’s special contribution to diplomacy and the culture of peace.
KBG’s president Mamdouh Abbas described Benaissa as a well-deserved diplomat who earned the unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees.
The annual ceremony of the Foundation was held in the presence of Lea Boutros Ghali, several ministers and public figures, and members of the Board of Trustees.
The KBG was founded in 2018 by a group of prominent figures of culture and diplomacy and named after late Egyptian diplomat and sixth UN secretary-general Boutros Boutros Ghali.
