A Moroccan blue helmet, operating as part of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic, was killed Friday in an attack southeast the country.
The Central African Republic has been struggling with civil war since 2013.
The UN Mission said that a member of the Moroccan contingent died, in an attack that targeted Obo airport, while he was securing the airport’s perimeter for the plane to land.
The UN body condemned this attack, deeming it a crime of war under the international law. It urged the Central African authorities to make every effort in order to identify the crime perpetrators and bring them to justice.
