Police officers in Aït Melloul (west coast of Morocco) arrested Wednesday four people, a woman and 3 men, aged between 20 and 29, over suspicion of involvement in a cybercriminal ring active in sexual extortion.
The suspects, one of them with a criminal record, were caught for fraud and sexual blackmailing using social media, following a complaint filed by a foreigner.
The search operation, in an Agadir apartment owned by one of the suspects, resulted in the seizing of cell phones and electronic equipment that were used in the cybercrime.
The suspects were remanded in police custody, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to throw light on the circumstances of this crime.
