Morocco and Spain are “very satisfied” with the implementation of the bilateral roadmap, set up last April, during the visit of Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, said Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on Thursday in Barcelona.
The remarks were made by Bourita during a press briefing, following a working meeting with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares, held on the sidelines of the 7th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
The event was an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in the implementation of this roadmap and to examine ways to further it.
“We are in a new phase of our relationship and we are very happy to continue working on different areas notably economic cooperation, political dialogue, fight against illegal immigration, terrorism and regional security,” added the Moroccan official.
Bourita underlined that this model of cooperation should be strengthened and promoted.
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is an intergovernmental Euro-Mediterranean organization that brings together all countries of the European Union and 16 countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. It is aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and addressing the strategic objectives of stability, human development, and integration.
