A shooting incident that occurred Tuesday evening at a WalMart store in Chesapeake City, Virginia, claimed the lives of at least six people.
According to local media outlets, quoting city officials, the attacker was dead while the number of injured victims is still unclear.
Police said earlier there were multiple fatalities and injuries.
A spokesperson for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital said that five people were admitted for treatment.
Investigators believe the shooter was an employee or former employee of the store, who opened fire on other employees in a break room.
