King Mohammed VI delivered a speech on the 9th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), in which he pointed out to the importance of inter-civilizational dialogue for the creation of an “alliance of peace” and coexistence for the benefit of one united humanity.
The Monarch said, in the message read out by his Advisor André Azoulay, that this vision is pivotal in a time where hate speech, terrorism, wars, pandemics and climate change are ruining world’s stability and undermining international relations.
The King highlighted the shared desire to pursue Morocco’s engagement with the UNAOC and ensure the organization’s sustainability to promote understanding, trust, and dialogue between cultures, religions, and civilizations.
The King stated that Morocco’s engagement with the Alliance is reflected in the efforts made by the country, a founding member of the Alliance, to uphold peace and stability and promote openness as a pillar for a peace-based culture.
The holding of such event in Fez speaks volumes about the city. Fez is a crossroads of civilizations and cultures, a city of sciences, knowledge, and spirituality for Morocco and the African continent in general, said the King.
