Nigerian soldier killed a humanitarian worker and a fellow soldier at a military facility in northeastern Nigeria, on Thursday, after shooting and injuring the co-pilot of a UN helicopter.
A helicopter co-pilot from the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) was shot and injured, according to a statement from the Nigerian Army, which is fighting an Islamist insurgency in the country’s north east.
According to Samson Nantip Zhakom, an army spokesman for the anti-insurgency campaign, the unnamed soldier then turned on a fellow soldier before shooting and killing a worker from one of the organizations providing humanitarian assistance in the area.
