U.S Senator Jim Inhofe, known for his unconditional support for the polisario separatists, announced his retirement as his nearly 28-year political career comes to an end, dealing a major blow to the separatists.
Inhofe, who had served as acting chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the U.S senate, will be leaving his seat to Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) starting January 2023.
Mullin is known to be as a staunch defender of the Abraham accords, and is expected to bring a significant and positive impact on the Moroccan Sahara issue.
Former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, who brokered the Abraham Accords peace agreements, has revealed in his book “Breaking History: A White House Memoir”, that Inhofe was against including the recognition of the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara in the agreement between Morocco, Israel, and the United States.
