The Spanish Commission for Refugees (CEAR) confirmed, Thursday, that the death of 23 illegal immigrants in the events of the occupied city of Melilla last June, happened on the Spanish territories, contrary to what the Spanish government is saying.
This confirmation came during a meeting of the Committee on Civil Liberties, under the European Parliament, marked by the absence of the Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez, who declined the parliament’s invitation to explain how the Spanish authorities are managing this illegal immigration crisis.
Some Sub-Saharan immigrants tried last June to collectively storm into the province of Nador, using violence and causing a stampede at the fence, which resulted in the death of 23 would-be immigrants.
