Turkish Ambassador to Morocco, Ömer Faruk Dogan, said that the Sahara conflict is artificial and it works in the interest of third parties looking to hamper the region’s development.
The statement came in an interview with a French-speaking media outlet, during which the ambassador highlighted the importance of relations between Morocco and Turkey.
“Relations between Morocco and Turkey are very deep and rooted in history, dating back to the 16th century”, he added.
Referring to the Sahara issue, he said the Turkish people and authorities fully understand the feelings of Moroccans because Turkey has a similar problem. He also commended Morocco’s development efforts in the southern provinces.
On the diplomatic disagreement between Morocco and Algeria, he said that Turkey is ready to help bring the two countries closer.
