The Ministry of Economy and Finance has denied all recent news by some media that the Customs and Indirect Taxation Administration has tightened control over Moroccan travelers’ gifts and personal items, including Moroccans residing abroad when entering the national territory.
In a Press release issued by the Ministry, which we received a copy of it, the Ministry explained that the news circulated was unfounded.
“Some media outlets have recently reported that the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes has tightened control over Moroccan travelers’ gifts and personal items, including Moroccans living abroad when entering the national territory.”
In this regard, the Ministry of Economy and Finance categorically denies this unfounded news. It asserts that “the customs measures remain unchanged for Moroccan travelers, including Moroccans residing abroad, who are not concerned with customs surveillance of anything regarding the personal items they’re carrying.”
The Ministry of Economy and Finance also affirms that “the Customs and Indirect Taxation Administration spares no effort to simplify and facilitate the entry of Moroccans through the various border points into the homeland, by the high royal instructions and the care that His Majesty attaches to his subjects.”
It also emphasizes that the intervention of the Customs and Indirect Taxation Administration “concerns only goods of a purely commercial nature.”
