Ambassador Puneet Talwar Says He will Prioritize Deepening the Ties Between the American and the Moroccan people

Ambassador Puneet Talwar declare that "American friendship with Morocco began with the early days of America".

On the official page of the U.S. Embassy Morocco on Twitter, Ambassador Puneet Talwar declared that “American friendship with Morocco began with the early days of America when Morocco was the first country to recognize America’s independence, and I look forward to building on this legacy”.

“President Biden and Secretary Blinken place great value on strategic relations with Morocco and priorities close coordination with His Majesty King Mohamed VI on so many important issues, that’s why they have asked me to take on this critical assignment in Rabat, Morocco, is a regional leader, and I look forward to deepening all dimensions of our partnership so that we can work together to advance peace, prosperity, and security and to joint forces to dress important global challenges like climate change. I will prioritize deepening the ties between our people because that is the best way to ensure that our friendship endures and flourishes long in the future. See you soon inshallah”, he added.

Puneet Talwar has held senior national security and foreign policy positions in the State Department, White House, and United States Senate. He is currently a Senior Advisor at the State Department. Previously, he has served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, and Senior Professional Staff Member at the Committee on Foreign Relations in the United States Senate.

Talwar’s public service includes key roles in the U.S. House of Representatives and the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff. Outside of government, he has been a Senior Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute, a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Penn Biden Center, a Counselor to the conflict resolution NGO Inter Mediate, and a non-resident Scholar at Georgetown University’s Center for Security Studies. Talwar earned his B.S. Degree in Engineering from Cornell University and his M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a native of Washington, DC.
