Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour conducted two events yesterday 1st November in Casablanca, the first was the inauguration ceremony of the new textile unit with Chinese capital “Omega Textile Morocco”, in the presence of Ms. Emma Cai, president of the company.
According to the communiqué, this new industrial unit dedicated to the manufacture of socks, Omega Textile Morocco intends to position itself as a manufacturer of finished products integrating the entire value chain addressing the Moroccan and African market, and this, by acquiring production equipment performance last generation.
The Minister stressed that “this new investment is carrying development and performance for the Moroccan textile industry. It allows the group to strengthen its competitiveness and increase its integration rate” and added that with this new project, the group relocates its production in Morocco, which proves once again the competitiveness of the destination Morocco.”
This new project is the first phase of an investment program that was the subject of an agreement signed with the Ministry of Industry in July 2020, and which involves an investment amount of 78.649 MDH with the creation of 627 new jobs and a turnover of 45 MDH by 2024, 60% of which is intended for export, especially to America. The investment program is dedicated to the production of socks and hosiery using 4.0 technology.
This investment is the 3rd of the Chinese group in Morocco. The group has, in fact, two other industrial units in Settat, specialized in the manufacture of sports shoes and slippers.
The second event was the signing of two memorandums of understanding between the government represented by the Minister and CAPEGIMINI to invest in a project that will contribute to the acceleration of Engineering Services Outsourcing as one of the most job-creating activities for engineers and scientists, the government from its part will support Capgemini Engineering to accompany its growth and the increase in talent skills.
The Minister stated: “In a context of a strong rebound in the activity of major international contractors, the creation of additional jobs is a major lever for growth and attractiveness of our country. The commitment and investment of leading groups such as Capgemini in the engineering sector is essential. We are proud to accompany this momentum of engineering and offshoring in Morocco and we support the rise of national skills, the strengthening of professions in this sector, and the employability of young people. These are central components of our strategy, in line with the High Royal Instructions for industrial acceleration, the creation, and development of efficient ecosystems”.
