According to The42, Moroccan athlete Taoufik Allam won the Irish Life Dublin Marathon with a time of 2:11:30. He finished the race with a two minutes difference from the Ethiopian runner-up Ashenafi Boja with a time of 2:13:59, and ahead of Ethiopian Birhanu Teshome, who came in third with a time of 2:14:26.
The Irish Times states that this was Allam’s first marathon since 2017. The 33-year-old athlete collected the top prize of €12,000, “breaking clear just before the critical 21-mile mark as the race traced southside through Clonskeagh,” adds the same source.
Morocco’s Taoufik Allam picked up his pace considerably in the second half of Sunday’s Dublin race, says BBC.
Not having been held since 2019 due to Covid-19, the Dublin Marathon featured more than 25,000 runners.
