The Morocco Judges’ Club announced its boycott of a national seminar organized by the Ministry of Justice on the subject of “Equality and Justice in the Moroccan Family,” accusing the Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi of not ensuring the principle of participatory democracy.
The Judges’ Club explained in a letter sent to the minister last Tuesday that the reason for not participating in the seminar on Friday the 28th of October, in partnership with the United Nations, about Gender Equality in Morocco, is that “this approach does not include many resolutions and projects related to the justice system, the most important of which are many draft laws that were prepared without the involvement of the Judges Club.”
The Club also highlighted that “participatory democracy, as enshrined in Article 12 of the Constitution, is an indivisible constitutional principle, adding that until the participatory approach is generalized to all relevant issues, it decides not to participate in the symposium.
