On October 27th, Mohammed Dkhissi, Director of Judicial Police, revealed the conclusions and recommendations of the third international conference held in Marrakesh by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) from 25 to October 28th. It is worth noting that this was the first time this event was held outside of Lyon.
In a statement to Barlaman Today, Dkhissi mentioned that the recommendations of this conference concern “the need to strengthen international cooperation, both bilateral or multilateral, in the fight against terrorism, extremism, and chemical threats, with a focus on the exchange of experiences and expertise, and the need to promote continuous and specialized training.”
According to the official, this conference is not just “a passing cloud,” but a constructive debate in questions asked during several discussions and presentations were answered and through which we learned about the experiences of a group of countries and benefited from them. In turn, they also benefited from the Moroccan one.
“The conference has been successful at all levels,” he continued, stressing in this regard the importance of the said recommendations, significantly strengthening cooperation and the exchanging strategic and operational information in the field of chemical security and emerging threats, as well as the promotion and development of training.
In response to a question on the possibility of holding this conference’s next edition in the Kingdom of Morocco, Dkhissi, who is also the Director of the Interpol’s office in Morocco, explained that this related to the decision of the organization and the host country. He also added that “this is not an easy meeting, as it brings together more than 75 countries and includes 370 experts in chemistry, physics and other materials, as well as senior specialists and security professionals.”
The official highlighted that the country in which this conference will be held must be safe, saying, “thank God, our country is safe, a country of coexistence and respect for all religions and races, and for this reason, Morocco has been chosen.”
