The Kingdom’s Public Treasury reported that the expenses and resources of the territorial authorities revealed a total surplus of 7.2 billion dirhams, until the end of September 2022, compared to one of 6.5 billion dirhams recorded a year before.
In its monthly bulletin on local financial statistics for September, the Treasury stated that this surplus takes into account the positive balance of more than 1.76 billion dirhams due to special accounts and annexed budgets directed to cover expenses to be paid during the remaining months of 2022.
The same source highlighted that, concerning the regular revenue of the territorial authorities, it was stabilized at 31.2 billion dirhams, an increase of 0.2% compared to the end of September 2021, due to an 8.4% rise in revenues managed by the territorial authorities, coupled with a decrease of transferred revenues by 0.8%, and a reduction of 3.9% in state-run revenues.
The Kingdom’s public Treasury also reported that the distribution of revenues from the main budgets of the territorial authorities by region showed intense concentration at the level of six regions, accounting for 74% of these revenues.
The revenues of the Casablanca-Settat region (6.866 million dirhams) represent 22% of the total revenues of the territorial authorities. In contrast, the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region came in second place with 13.4% of the revenues, while the revenues of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab 1.7%.
On the other hand, the Kingdom’s public Treasury reported that the total expenditures of the territorial authorities (regular expenditures, investment expenditures, and repayment of the principal debt) amounted to 27.7 billion dirhams. They show an increase of 2.4% compared to its level at the end of September 2021, highlighting that it consists of more than 65.6% of regular expenses.
The distribution of the territorial authorities’ expenditures by region reflects a strong concentration at the level of six regions, accounting for 72.1% of this expenditure.
Expenditures in the Casablanca-Settat region (5.076 million dirhams) represent 19.7% of the total expenditures of the territorial authorities, while expenditures in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region represent 1.7% of the total expenditures.
