A statement released by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed U.S. forces conducted a successful airstrike in northern Syria, today, at approximately 6:32 PM local time in Syria, killing both Abu-Hashum al-Umawi, a deputy Wali of Syria, and another senior ISIS official associated with him.
“This strike will degrade ISIS’ ability to destabilize the region and strike at our forces and partners,” said General Michael “Erik” Kurilla, CENTCOM Commander. “Our forces remain in the region to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS.”
According to another statement released by the CENTCOM earlier, the U.S. military conducted a raid in northeastern Syria on the evening of the 5th of October, targeting, Raqqan Wahid al-Shammri, a senior ISIS official, known for smuggling weapons and organizing escape operations for Islamic State fighters. This operation resulted in the death of al-Shammri, the injury of one of his collaborators, and the arrest of two others.
In this regard, the satellite channel “Alhurra” reported in tweets relayed today, a source in the Pentagon said, the U.S. forces have managed, also, to kill Abu Moad Al Qahtani, responsible for prisoners within the ISIS.
