On September 28th, a ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the Chief Operating Officer of Yazaki EMEA, Andreas Di Vece, to inaugurate Morocco’s fourth Yazaki plant and Kenitra’s second.
The overall investment of this plant, considered one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of electrical and electronic products in the automotive industry, amounts to 333 million dirhams.
Mr. Mezzour pointed out the fact that this opening proves Morocco’s competitiveness on a global scale.
This advanced facility will be used to produce parts to equip thermal, hybrid, and electric vehicles, which supports the transition of the automotive industry towards electrification and sustainable mobility.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Yazaki EMEA, Andreas Di Vece, said that the business conditions in Morocco offer exceptional support for investors, noting in this sense, that the Moroccan employees are qualified, talented, and committed which represents a big motivation for Yazaki to continue its industrial investments in Morocco.
The establishment of Yazaki Kenitra is located in the Free Zone. It is a part of a global strategy to achieve the group’s ambition to maintain the position of a market leader. The decision in favor of the new site of the city was taken mainly because of the availability of a highly qualified workforce, perfect connections with a multi-level transport network, and the future Atlantic port of Kenitra. Adding to that is the proximity of educational institutions such as universities, business schools, and engineering schools. Today, the group is one of the largest employers in Morocco. More than 16,000 people currently work for the company on all sites in the Kingdom. Yazaki has been present in Morocco since 2,000 with the Tangier plant having been inaugurated by King Mohammad VI.
