According to AFP, the Belgian Minister of Justice stated that the imam Hassan Iquioussen, targeted by a European arrest warrant issued by the French justice, was arrested Friday, September 30, near Mons, in Belgium.
“I can confirm that he was arrested today by the police,” said the minister, Vincent Van Quickenborne. The preacher, who is on the run, has been implicated in France for comments that are deemed contrary to the values of the Republic.
Fundamentalist Islamic preacher Hassan Iquioussen is thought to have escaped to Belgium from France. Authorities in northern France are accusing the imam of inciting hatred and anti-Semitism.
