OCP Group will be initially acquiring 50% of GlobalFeed S.L. from Fertinagro Biotech S.L., a major Spanish fertilizers producer, following the definitive agreement signed between the two parties. “This acquisition confirms OCP’s objective to diversify its phosphate solutions and become a leading player in the animal nutrition sector, addressing growing demand and expanding its offerings to specialty sustainable and customized products”, stated Marouane Ameziane, Managing Director for Specialty Products and Solutions at OCP Group.
Javier Martin, CEO of GlobalFeed, went on to say that “this even closer alliance with OCP will accelerate our industrial capabilities and market growth offering sustainable and advanced phosphates to the world’s most demanding nutritionists, as well as better access to our cutting-edge technologies and reliable alternatives on the market.” The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
GlobalFeed, which operates in the animal nutrition segment, owns flexible production units with a capacity of 200,000 tons of phosphate-based products and 30,000 tons of iron sulfate located in Huelva, Spain, and benefits from a large global sales footprint. It also manufactures and distributes a wide range of products, including phosphate-based commodities and high-value solutions dedicated to several species.
This partnership is one of the concrete measures undertaken by OCP Group to reinforce its presence on the global market as an animal phosphates feed top producer and exporter, and by extension, help alleviate global hunger by increasing livestock and crop yields, using animal phosphate feeds and fertilizers, respectively.
