True to their internationally recognized expertise and outstanding performance, the Kingdom’s security services continue to deploy great efforts to thwart attempts of drug trafficking, irregular migration, and more, to protect public order, safety, and security. From September 14th to September 23rd, Morocco’s law enforcement was able to arrest 34 people involved in drug trafficking with a total quantity of over 147 kgs of cannabis resin (chira), over 248 kgs of Kif, 7.2 kgs of raw leaf tobacco, 11.8 grams of cocaine, 3 tons and 215 kilograms of hashish and 944 psychotropic tablets. On irregular migrations, over 605 prospective irregular migrants, Moroccans, Algerians, and sub-Saharans, were arrested at different checkpoints in the Kingdom. Ammunition was also seized by the authorities including a rusty grenade, 36 small-sized gas cylinders filled with Nitrous Oxide, 499 units of electric explosives detonators used in mining activities, in addition to falsified banknotes.
Drug Trafficking
In Fez, the police services carried out a home raid, which resulted in the arrest of a man suspected of being involved in the traffic of narcotics and the seizure of 8 kgs of cannabis resin (chira) in addition to a cab driver who was accompanied by an ex-convict which resulted in the seizure of 6,6 kgs of cannabis resin (chira).
In Fes Saiss Airport, the police services arrested a man when he was exiting the Kingdom. He was found in possession of 9 grams of cannabis resin (chira) concealed in the pocket of his hand luggage.
In Al Hoceima, the police services, assisted by the Royal Gendarmerie, arrested a man who was the subject of several wanted notices for “drug trafficking.” The authorities seized at his home 8 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of cannabis resin (chira), 200 kilograms of Kif ready for consumption, and knives. In the same city, the Royal Gendarmerie stopped, during a routine control, a “Mercedes 190” car with fake plates. The vehicle search allowed the discovery and the seizure of 2 kg of cannabis resin (chira), and 10 grams of white powder.
In Mohammedia, the services of the Royal Gendarmerie arrested a drug trafficker who was in possession of 16 kgs of Kif in stems, 3 kgs of raw leaf tobacco, 280 grams of cannabis resin (chira), 80 grams of Kif ready for consumption, and the sum of 320 MAD.
In Sidi Kacem, the Brigade of the Judicial Police arrested a man who was sought for “indecent assault”, with instructions for arrest. He was seized with 75 liters of eau de vie, 542 boxes of UHU adhesive, 900 grams of cannabis resin (chira), a bag of Kif in stems and 2 cutlasses.
In Kelaa Sraghna, the Royal Gendarmerie arrested a man, who was the subject of 10 wanted notices for “traffic of narcotics”. The authorities carried out a raid at his house and seized 500 grams of cannabis resin (chira), 30 kgs of Kif in stems, and 1 kg of raw leaf tobacco.
In Rabat, the police services arrested a man at a roadblock. He was on board of “CTM” bus, in possession of 8,5 kg of cannabis resin (chira).
In Bab Sebta, the police services arrested a man, while he was exiting the country, who ingested capsules of cannabis resin (chira). He was handed over to the Brigade of Judicial Police of M’diq- Fnideq for further investigation.
In Tanger-Med, the police and customs services arrested a man exiting the Kingdom in the direction of France on board a van by the brand “IVECO”, the search of which allowed the discovery of a quantity of 20 kg of cannabis resin (chira). In the same location, the services of the police and customs arrested a man who was exiting the Kingdom in a “Volkswagen Golf 5” car registered in Italy. In his possession was found 7 kgs of cannabis resin (chira) hidden in a cooler.
In Tanger-Med Port, the services of police and customs arrested a man exiting the Kingdom in a “Mercedes” vehicle, registered in Spain. He was found in possession of 8 kgs of cannabis resin (chira) hidden inside the headrests of the seats.
In Marrakech, the police services arrested a Liberian national in possession of three doses of cocaine (3,8 grams approximately). He is a retailer of this drug he gets from a sub-Saharan dealer. In the same city, the police services arrested an ex-convict who was found in possession of 37 psychotropic tablets, at the moment when he was trying to sell them to two other men, one of which is a minor.
At Marrakech Menara Airport, the French police services of the 18th district arrested, at the time of her departure towards Nantes, a French national found in possession of approximately 2,7 grams of cannabis resin (chira).
In Inzegane, the police services arrested two soldiers, the first soldier was in possession of 18 grams of cannabis resin (chira) and the second of 33 grams of the same substance. They also arrested two brothers, one of which was wanted, involved in the traffic of psychotropic drugs and in banditry. They appeared in a video recording published, on May 18th, 2022, by “Chouf.tv”.
In Chichaoua, the services of the Royal Gendarmerie arrested two men in possession of 2 kgs of cannabis resin (chira), 2 kgs of Kif in stems, 200 grams of tobacco and 5 liters of eau-de-vie.
In Tiznit, the services of the Royal Gendarmerie arrested two men found in possession of 1 kg of cannabis resin (chira), 7 kgs of cannabis in stems, 3 kgs of raw leaf tobacco, and 1280 liters of eau-de-vie. The dealer, who was in their company, managed to escape. A woman was also arrested at the same location, during the same operation, for sex out of wedlock with one of the men.
In Nador, Auxiliary Forces in charge of the coastal surveillance discovered an inflatable zodiac cast up by the sea used for the international traffic of narcotics. This material was seized by the royal gendarmerie and an investigation was opened. The services of police and customs in Nador arrested a man who was exiting the Kingdom in a “Citroen C8” car registered in France. The search of the vehicle allowed the seizure of a quantity of 300 grams of cannabis resin (chira).
In Martil, the police services police arrested three men on board a “Mitsubishi” registered in Spain. The vehicle search allowed the seizure of two packages of cannabis resin (chira) weighing 75 kgs in total, the sum of 4000 MAD, 2 car keys, and 3 cell phones.
In Casablanca: the police services arrested an ex-convict, known for trading psychotropic drugs. The search carried out at his place allowed the seizure of 16 tablets of the psychotropic drug “Rivotril”. The police services of Casablanca arrested a drug trafficker also. The search carried out at his place allowed the seizure of 4 kilograms and 90 grams of cannabis resin (chira), as well as a sum of money of 2300 MAD.
At Ibn Batouta Airport, the police services arrested two French nationals who were exiting the Kingdom with cannabis resin (chira) hidden in their private parts. The first person hid 8 grams of cannabis resin (chira) and the second person hid 29 grams of the same drug.
In Agadir, the police services arrested two men, one of which is an ex-convict. They were found in possession of 2500 grams of cannabis resin (chira) and 891 tablets of psychotropic drugs.
In El Jadida, a drug trafficker, who was the subject of 67 wanted notices for “illicit trafficking of narcotics”, was arrested on September 23rd.
At El Guerrgarat crossing, a 34-year-old Moroccan citizen was arrested and three tons and 215 kilograms of hashish were seized.
Irregular Migration
The security services arrested around 605 prospective Moroccan, Algerian, and sub-Saharan irregular migrants in different cities, border posts, and ports. In Taourirt, the police services posted at the roadblocks arrested an ex-counselor of PJD in the urban commune of Berkane on board an “Audi A4” vehicle. He was the subject of a wanted notice dating from July 12th, 2022 issued by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) for “irregular migration” with instructions to arrest him. In Taghazout, the local authorities spotted a “Mercedes 208” vehicle transporting prospective irregular migrants, who fled after getting denounced by the inhabitants of the village. In Tanger-Med port, authorities arrested a 42-year-old British national, who pretended to be 33-year-old Maltese, as he was attempting to enter the national territory illegally, hidden inside a trailer connected to an international transport truck that was coming from a Spanish port.
Seizure of Weapons for Terrorist or Malicious Acts, Seizure of Dangerous Objects, and Refusal to Obey
In Berkane, a rusty grenade was discovered by a 10-year-old child who was collecting iron objects inside an empty canal. The police and the Royal Gendarmerie issued a report before notifying the concerned authorities to recover this ammunition.
In Errachidia, a bag containing 499 units of electric explosives detonators used in mining activities, was discovered abandoned in an open field. The Royal Gendarmerie issued a report and gave the ammunition.
In Casablanca, the police services arrested a member of the Istiqlal party of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services in Casa-Settat. The search of his vehicle allowed the discovery of a batch of 36 small-sized gas cylinders filled with Nitrous Oxide.
In Al Hoceima, the police arrested two men, one of which is an ex-convict. The vehicle search allowed the discovery and seizure of a motorcycle and two cutlasses. The third passenger managed to flee, and the cab driver and the other two men are placed in custody.
In Midelt, the Royal Gendarmerie arrested a man on board a car in possession of 45.600 MAD worth of false banknotes. He was denounced by a grocer to whom the person arrested gave a falsified bill of 200 MAD.
In Mdiq-Fnideq, the Royal Navy stopped a jet ski driven by a German national of Iranian origins, at sea in “Cabo-Negro”, for refusal to comply with the injunctions of this unit and unauthorized access to the territorial waters. The foreigner and the jet ski were handed over to the Maritime Brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie of M’diq for investigation.
